we are picking up a few sprinkles in the panhandle of west virginia drying. there are actually a few snow flurries in allegany counties in western maryland and southwestern pennsylvania. down to the mid 40s in the northern shenandoah valley. loudoun county to leesburg in mid 40s. montgomery county to the upper 40s as has now fairfax and arlington. in the upper 40s in prince george's county. southern maryland is now upper 40s to near 50 degrees. we have also some winds that are still blustery. it even feels chillier than the 40s with the winds gusting to around 20 to 25 miles per hour. winds will go calm by later on tonight. these counties in blue, including augusta, rockingham, shenandoah and page are under a frost advisory. we had the warm conditions earlier this week. that led to an early start to the growing season. as a result of clear skies and light winds tonight, that could allow temperatures to drop to the low to mid 30s and upper 20s. in the mountains there could be temperatures in the upper 20s. pollen count remains high. it did improve with last ni

the plan includes sites 50 miles off virginia's coast. ann thompson reports. >> reporter: this is what first responders saw. the 11 missing workers, hopes were they could be found. the coast guard and the oil companies are trying to prevent an environmental tragedy. today a sheen of oil up to 100 square miles floats over the gulf, while officials say they don't see any oil spilling from the under water well head, they are taking no chances. oil containment booms made of vinyl or plastic materials are placed on the surface of the water around the spill. they keep the oil and any debris in a confined area. from the airplanes dropped thousands of gallons of chemicals that allowed it to collect the oily water from the surface. despite the disaster, the white house today said president obama has no intention of backing away from his plan to expand offshore drilling announced last month. >> we are going to need to harness traditional sources of fuel, even as we ramp up renewable home grown energy. >> reporter: he wants to include the section of
